The key to writing, for me, is consistency. Writing is habitual. If I write a couple pages every day, eventually they accumulate into something substantial. Think about it. One page per day equates to 365 pages in a year, or essentially a book. When I stay disciplined and write each and every day, I generate my best work. Having determined that about myself, I focus on the act of writing with the goal of completing at least one book per year, but it varies by genre. Traditionally a Romance writer, I find that genre easier. Murder Mysteries and Thrillers come much more slowly for me, although I take more pride in the results. As I sit down to write lately, my main objective is to get myself back in the habit of writing every day and let the process take its natural course. Momentum yields momentum. Therefore, I have decided to set aside the Murder/Thriller I was working on and turn my attention to drafting Soulmates IV. I like to call it “reaching for the low-hanging fruit.”
